The United States of Tara follows a suburban homemaker, mom, and artist living with dissociative identity disorder. This condition leads her to switch between multiple personalities at any given moment. Does it make her life unpredictable? Absolutely. And it keeps her family on their toes as well.

Cheers is the name of a Boston bar where locals, regulars, and staff share their lives and experiences. It’s a place “where everybody knows your name,” and for us Gen-Xers, the theme song was a daily anthem.

Previously hosted by Dave Navarro, the series is currently fronted by Joel Madden. Season 16 crowned a new master in December 2024, with season 17 already in the works.

The critically acclaimed cool-kid comedy blew my mind growing up. It resonates in its relatability, capturing all the awkwardness, anxieties, and uncertainties of adolescence, packed with humor and heartbreak that come with being a teenager.

I might not be a crime boss, but I’ve seen enough of these shows to know you can’t just waltz into a new territory without first appeasing the established rulers. And Manfredi learns this lesson the hard way.

Adapted from a book series of the same name, Joe Pickett is a slow-burn Western that follows a dedicated game warden (played by Michael Dorman) as he and his family navigate the changing socio-political landscape of Saddlestring, a small rural town teetering on the brink of economic collapse.

From the mind of writer/creator Taylor Sheridan comes Tulsa King, an almost gritty crime drama series that follows a New York mafia capo (played by Stallone). Released after serving a 25-year sentence, Manfredi is exiled to Tulsa by his boss. However, upon realizing his crime family has no plans for him, he sets out to establish his criminal empire with unexpected allies.

Picture this: a guy stops his car for a girl at a crosswalk on a sunny day. As she passes by with a shy smile and a little flash, Gordon (played by Patrick Brammall) eases off the brake pedal and inadvertently hits an unseen dog crossing the road. And so begins this underrated gem of a sitcom from Australia.

Joe Pickett delivers a mix of mystery and outdoor adventure wrapped in a neo-Western tale about an underappreciated hero. Much like classic Western stories, this one delves into contemporary issues and the trials faced by rural America’s residents.

I’m thrilled this show made its way to Paramount+, otherwise, I might have never crossed paths with Colin from Accounts.

Billions draws inspiration from real-life federal prosecutions of financial crimes. The character of Roades is based on Preet Bharara, who served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York in Manhattan from 2009 to 2017. His 2013 prosecution of hedge fund manager Steven A. Cohen loosely influenced the first season of Billions, with the Salomon Brothers’ 1991 manipulation of U.S. Treasure bonds inspiring the second.

Based on comedian Ray Romano’s real-life experiences and showrunner Phil Rosenthal, Everybody Loves Raymond chronicles the daily life of Raymond Barone (played by Romano), a sportswriter for Newsday residing on Long Island with his family.

The series revolves around Ray’s interactions with his family, including his wife Debra (played by Patricia Heaton) and their three children, alongside his endearing yet intrusive parents, Marie (played by Doris Roberts) and Frank (played by Peter Boyle), and his envious brother Robert (played by Brad Garrett).

Featuring a stellar cast including Frank Grillo and Dana Delany, Tulsa King dives into the consequences of actions, the lengths taken to protect families, and the challenges of maintaining an empire. Redemption is a central theme, alongside some remarkable celebrity appearances.

Colin from Accounts is one of those shows that hooks you in with a cute dog but keeps you coming back for the authentic, cleverly funny courtship between a delightfully imperfect couple.

Ashley (portrayed by Harriet Dyer), being the good soul she is, stops and rushes back to help. Together, they sort of adopt the dog, naming him Colin from Accounts, and take turns looking after him until he’s back on his paws. Spending time together, they start to fall for each other. Eventually, everything in their relationship revolves around the dog.

Initially juggling three personalities—“T,” a flirtatious teen; Buck, a beer-guzzling Vietnam vet with a violent side; and Alice, a picture-perfect 1950s mom—Tara later encounters four more alter egos, including a violent alter ego named Bryce and Tara’s five-year-old self that suffered from abuse, named Chicken.

For a raw look at high school life before the turn of the century (minus John Hughes), turn to Freaks and Geeks, a TV show that ended way too soon, despite critical acclaim and cult following. It’s a prime example of why we shouldn’t overlook a canceled show.

Everybody Loves Raymond stands out for its relatable portrayal of family life, extracting humor from the misunderstandings and quirks of individual characters as they navigate their relationships.

Exploring themes of political intrigue, international affairs, love, deceit, and the psychological toll of espionage, The Agency brings to light the moral dilemmas faced by those operating in the shadows. Fassbender delivers a captivating performance, intensifying the intrigue and suspense.

Sylvester Stallone has taken on many iconic roles over the years, but as of late, Dwight “The General” Manfredi reigns supreme.

In a world inundated with reality competitions, there’s one series that holds my attention: Ink Master. I appreciate a good tattoo, but what truly captivates me is watching skilled artists at work on human canvases. Despite the scripted drama, this show never fails to draw you in.

Anticipate an authentic setting, powerful social commentary intertwined with character-driven narratives, and the presence of strong female characters. This was a binge I thoroughly enjoyed!
