One last thing before I go… Bye from iMore

Dust off your old iPod and cue up your ‘Songs to cry to’ playlist, for I bring somber tidings. After over 15 years of dedicated coverage on all things Apple, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the cessation of new content publication on iMore.

This marks a poignant reminder that the tech landscape is ever-changing: The term ‘artificial intelligence’ was once solely the stuff of science fiction during the nascent iPhone era. Furthermore, the publishing industry is in a state of perpetual evolution, mirrorring the fluidity of tech journalism aimed at illuminating industry developments. iMore bows out at a pivotal juncture in online publishing, where the pursuit of audience engagement faces unprecedented challenges, complicated by AI advancements and intricate search algorithms. Serving such a devoted readership has been immensely rewarding, but now it is time to pass the baton to fresh voices, platforms, and formats.

Now is the time to close those Watch rings, quieten Siri, and savor one final sip of the iBeer app. Thank you for allowing us to innovate for all these years. We’ll rendezvous in the vast iCloud backup in the sky.

Allow me to express my gratitude to the entire iMore community, both past and present, for the unwavering support and passion shown for our endeavors over the years. A special thank you is owed to the former leaders of iMore – Lory Gil, Serenity Caldwell, Joe Keller, and, most notably, the exceptional Rene Ritchie, whose vision initiated this incredible journey. I trust that we have done justice to your expectations.

Coinciding with the unveiling of the revolutionary first iPhone in 2008 – a device that altered not just Apple’s trajectory but the entire world’s – it seems apt that we conclude our publications here in 2024, on the cusp of Apple Intelligence’s imminent introduction. Like how Apple didn’t pioneer smartphone technology, they are not trailblazing in the realm of artificial intelligence. Yet just as the iPhone revolutionized the world, Apple Intelligence has the potential to redefine human interactions with technology for the foreseeable future.

I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all of you for standing by us through the various phases and transitions of this platform. Whether you joined us during the ‘PhoneDifferent’ era, ‘The iPhone Blog’ phase, or more recently engaged with ‘Apple Vision Pro,’ it has been an honor to be your source of daily Apple updates.

While iMore will be accessible online for readers to peruse archived articles and the forum will remain active until November 1 to continue supporting our community, our sister sites TechRadar.com and TomsGuide.com will persist in providing the latest news, reviews, and more in the realm of Apple-based computing. Simultaneously, our counterparts at WindowsCentral.com and AndroidCentral.com will persist in delivering stellar news, reviews, and features from the alternative realms of tech, ensuring you remain abreast of Microsoft and Google’s latest developments.
