Samsung teases Exynos 2500 ahead of Galaxy Z Flip 7 launch

Discussing graphics, the Xclipse 950 GPU boasts robust ray tracing support and consistently delivers 4K video output at 120FPS. Enhancing AI capabilities, the NPU operates 39% faster, a key feature for current Samsung phones. In terms of camera performance, it appears to be on par with the Exynos 2400, offering support for a sizable 320MP sensor and 8K30 video recording.

An intriguing component of the Exynos 2500 is its modem, which Samsung has kept discreet about, hinting at exceptional specifications without revealing specific details. The Exynos 5400 modem, featured in last year’s Pixel 9, appears to closely match the specifications, albeit slightly slower in download speeds.

Traditionally, high-end Exynos chips have not garnered much attention in North America; however, recent speculations indicate a shift in this trend in the upcoming weeks. Rumors hint at the global launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 equipped with the Exynos 2500 chipset, and with today’s announcement, the pieces are finally falling into place.

Although not matching the raw power of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Exynos 2500 boasts impressive qualities for a flagship chip. It boasts a 1+7+2 CPU configuration, featuring the latest Arm Cortex-X925 clocking at 3.3GHz. The performance-focused Cortex-A725 cores are divided into two groups — two cores at 2.74GHz and five at 2.36GHz — while the two efficiency cores are the 1.8GHz Cortex-A520s. Transitioning to Arm’s Cortex-X5 is expected to boost big-core performance by 15% compared to the Exynos 2400.

Samsung has now unveiled the Exynos 2500 chipset, entering the scene much later than anticipated for 2025. This tech revelation emerges just before the anticipated Unpacked event next month. Distinguished as the first Samsung chip constructed on a 3nm GAA node, a significant upgrade from the previous 4nm process on the Exynos 2400, this innovation suggests noteworthy efficiency enhancements over its precursor. This development bodes well for Samsung’s foundry business, a sector that has recently been trailing behind TSMC. Featuring FOWLP technology, the Exynos 2500 showcases a slimmer chipset and improved heat management, ensuring optimal performance without overheating.
