These XR specs gave me a massive 200-inch screen for work – and they’re totally worth it

The RayNeo Air 3S features advanced visual technology that reduces flickering and color instability, resulting in reduced eye strain. They are certified for TUV SUD Blue Light Protection, meet IMAX Enhanced standards for 98% DCI-P3 color accuracy, and more. Images and videos look stunning in the glasses, with no visible blurred edges and brightness levels that enhance the viewing experience.

The frame sides of the RayNeo Air 3S offer three adjustable angles for improved fit, and the arms are flexible enough to accommodate various head sizes. While there isn’t a myopia adjustment like with Virtue glasses, you can purchase lenses from a third party to fit into the glasses. Nose pad options are provided to ensure a comfortable setup for enjoying a big-screen experience.

Exploring Different Options

At $399, recommending the RayNeo Air 2S was a bit challenging, but with the launch of the Air 3S at $269, featuring brighter lenses, lighter weight, and improved display technology, recommending the RayNeo Air 3S is simple. With the substantial cost reduction, you can even pick up the JoyDock and have some money left over.

RayNeo introduces a new dual opposing audio chamber design in the glasses with four speakers rather than the typical two-speaker layout. This design, with two speakers on each side, offers a more immersive sound experience. The audio quality from the glasses is impressive, and those around you can barely hear the audio, ensuring an immersive experience.

My only issue with the RayNeo Air 3S visual experience is that light can still seep through the darkened front portion of the glasses in well-lit environments, despite the screen’s brightness. While physical light shades would enhance the experience, they are not available for these glasses. However, Virtue glasses incorporate electrochromic dimming technology, making them a preferred option for me.

Almost everyone I’ve introduced to XR glasses has ended up purchasing a pair for various activities like air travel, commuting, and gaming on the Nintendo Switch away from the TV dock. The only time they hesitate is when they check the price, but the new RayNeo Air 3S model removes that barrier with a launch price of just $269.

The RayNeo XR iOS app allows you to view spatial videos stored on your iPhone through the glasses. While the app doesn’t offer other XR or AR experiences and doesn’t have an Android version, users can benefit from Mirror Studio on Windows for additional display options. Designed primarily for video consumption, the RayNeo Air 3S is not optimized for productivity.

The RayNeo Air 3S offers one of the most affordable XR glasses solutions, with appealing accessories that enhance the big-screen experience. Despite minor issues like light seepage in bright environments, the visual and audio experience is exceptional, making it easy to immerse yourself in a big-screen world through your glasses.

Over the past month, I’ve been using the Sounder train, flying on commercial planes, and lounging at home while enjoying movies and Nintendo Switch games on a virtual 201-inch screen. The RayNeo Air 3S offers a great XR glasses option for those seeking a cinematic experience at an affordable cost.

  • RayNeo includes a sturdy zippered case to protect the glasses when not in use. A mesh pocket at the top of the case holds the USB-C cable that connects the glasses to your device. I connected the RayNeo Air 3S to various devices like the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, MacBook Pro, Surface Pro 8, and OnePlus
  • The content appeared on the glasses’ display while the audio played flawlessly through the enhanced speakers of the Air 3S.

Furthermore, Meta’s latest Oakley smart glasses, priced at $399, outperform Ray-Bans in almost every aspect.

RayNeo offers additional accessories to enhance your XR glasses experience, such as the $180 Pocket TV device, a portable Google TV device with integrated storage and a microSD card slot. For Nintendo Switch owners, the must-have JoyDock accessory priced at $99 allows easy output of video and audio to the RayNeo Air 3S glasses, providing an immersive gaming experience.
